Stunning Photos from a Wedding at Glasgow Engine Works

I remember when Kirsten and Isaac booked me for their wedding almost two years before their date. The excitement was palpable because the venue, The Engine Works in Glasgow, had always been on my bucket list. Being a wedding photographer at the Engineworks Glasgow is a dream come true, and this wedding truly lived up to every expectation.

Bridal Prep at Home

Of course, this isn’t where the story begins. I started the day with Kirsten, her mum and team of bridesmaids at her home in Kirkintilloch where they got ready. The atmosphere was fantastic and electric! Music playing, chat, good times… it’s hard to enjoy the celebratory vibes in the morning.

The Charm of The Engine Works

It’s not hard to see why this venue is such a sought-after location. Nestled in Maryhill, Glasgow, The Engine Works is an urban industrial style venue that exudes charm and character. With its red bricks, black sash windows, and soft pink plaster walls, it stands as a hidden gem in North Glasgow, perfect for couples seeking a city alternative to the typical country barn wedding venue.

Large Stylish Wedding Venue in Glasgow

Inside, The Engine Works boasts multiple rooms, making it incredibly versatile for weddings. From a dedicated space for the drinks reception to the ceremony area, meal, and dancing, this venue has it all. The upstairs rooms are ideal for pre-wedding preparations, and there’s even an extra room for stunning couple portraits, utilising the venue’s unique interior architecture.

At the back, the Engine Room provided a beautiful setting for Kirsten and Isaac’s ceremony. The garden space and patio are perfect for sunny drinks receptions. And just beyond the venue, a path leads to the canal, which serendipitously connects directly to Kirsten and Isaac’s home in East Dunbartonshire.

A Stylish and Personal Celebration

Kirsten and Isaac planned a black and white theme for their wedding, accented by bright floral bouquets. Isaac’s groomsmen looked dapper in black tuxedos, while Isaac himself stood out in a white tux jacket. The bridesmaids were stunning in black dresses, each with black ribbons in their hair.

One of the most memorable moments was when Isaac walked up the aisle with their cockerpoo, Logan, who added a touch of charm by barking at key moments, completely unprompted!

Cool Glasgow Venue

The Engine Works is a fantastic blank canvas for any couple’s vision. With a disco ball adding a contemporary touch at night, it blends modern and industrial aesthetics seamlessly. Its North Glasgow location makes it easily accessible for guests, with plenty of nearby hotels for overnight accommodations.

Reflections from the Couple

When I asked Isaac what he looked forward to most, he said, “Being married to Kirsten, seeing Logan walk down the aisle, and spending time with them both over the course of the day.” Kirsten shared her excitement about “seeing everyone happy and enjoying themselves,” and she eagerly anticipated seeing “two years’ worth of ideas and planning coming together.”

I asked Kirsten and Isaac why they chose The Engine Works. They said, “We have never been to the Engine Works for a wedding but have been following their Instagram for a few years now. We love industrial aesthetics and feel the Engine Works radiates the ‘raw’ interior design we love.”

The vibe they aimed for was “a little bit of everything.” They wanted their guests to have fun and be relaxed but also sought a timeless style. They hoped that in years to come, they would look at the photos and still find everything relevant.

Music to Remember

I asked them about music played during key moments in their wedding

Music played a key role in their special moments:

  • Walking down the aisle (Isaac and Logan): “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King” (acoustic version)
  • Kirsten walking down the aisle: “Time After Time” (Mabel version)
  • Signing the register: “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” by Stevie Wonder
  • Walking up the aisle together: “Dreams” by Gabrielle
