I was so excited when John and Laura booked me to take their wedding photos at the wonderful Guardswell Farm. It’s a wedding venue that I was particularly keen to work at and I have to admit I’m keen to return to it again one day. As a barn wedding venue in Perthshire, it has a lot on offer for a photographer.
Family Links to Guardswell Farm
This was a particularly special wedding venue for Laura and John as they had family ties to the farm. The barn inside had been decorated for the wedding meal later too. This is a venue with a lot of opportunities for guests to wander and mingle, whether inside or outdoors. The venue also has a granary, which is where wedding ceremonies can be held. It’s a lovely light space so works well even if the weather isn’t quite as agreeable.
Fortunately, the weather for John and Laura’s wedding was beautiful. So we headed up the hill – in the trailer of the tractor – to the ceremony location with such stunning views over Perthshire. Guardswell Farm really offers some great locations for wedding photos.
Wedding Photographs at Guardswell Farm
After the ceremony, we headed off in the open top Jeep, to the boat. Yes, a boat in a field. A little far from shore, but… it worked. We used the fields and the boat for some beautiful wedding photos at Guardswell Farm.
Then it was down back to the main Cattle court and bull pen to join in with the rest of the wedding celebrations for the reception.
Evening Wedding Photos at Guardswell Farm
In the evening we headed out around the woodlands for photos in amongst the trees and festoon lighting. It helped create a lovely summery romantic vibe for the photographs. We also used the lodges on Guardswell Farm for some wedding photos.
Guardswell Farm is however an epic venue for a good ceilidh. It’s got lots of space for a band and dancers. Outside, wedding guests could relax under the leanto, or by the firepit. There’s something wonderful about firepits, that just brings people together and gets them talking. You rarely see people staring into a mobile phone screen when there’s a firepit to look at.
