How do we keep the proposal a surprise from my partner?

While this is mostly down to how good a poker face you have, I’ll give you my expert advice to keep it a secret right up until the moment. As well as chatting it through on our call, I’ll send you some tips by email in the lead-up to the day.

Will you be hiding in a bush waiting for me to propose?

No, I find that tends to be the most obvious way and might give the game away. I have various ways to deal with proposals, but I find hiding in plain sight works best. Nobody has ever twigged that I’m there for their proposal!

How will you know it's us / how do we know it's you?

I offer a pre-booking discovery call before you book, which is a great way to “meet” each other online. Closer to the moment in hand, I’ll be in touch to let you know what I’m wearing and what to expect.

Do you have recommended locations for a proposal in Scotland?

I have a lot of great suggestions, and can guide you depending on what you’re after during your call. Whether it’s a city landscape, a secret garden, a dramatic waterfall, giant redwood trees, or a stunning castle, I have a growing list of recommendations. I’ll also give you a heads up if a particular location is likely to be very busy at particular times of the year or day, and help you plan your proposal around that.

What do we do if it's raining?

That happens, unfortunately! It does rain in Scotland. If you want something dry, I can recommend more sheltered locations and we can discuss possibilities during your call if necessary. There’s no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothes!

Can I book you from outside Scotland?

Absolutely. A lot of my proposals come from people who have travelled to Scotland on holiday. I’ve photographed couples from Australia, Spain, France, Singapore, Ireland, England, Germany and the US. I understand the love for a bucketlist destination proposal!

What is your photography style?

My approach is documentary; I capture what happens naturally rather than orchestrating it. After the proposal, I’m happy to offer as much or as little direction as you’d like, but most couples need very little. People who have just got engaged are on cloud nine, and that produces the most beautiful, authentic photographs of all.

Can you recommend other suppliers for me to use in my proposal?

Yes, I have working relationships with some wonderful venues and organisations across Scotland. Whether you’re looking for a private outdoor space, a luxury venue experience, or something a little more adventurous, I can point you in the right direction. Just ask.

How many photos will we receive, and how are they delivered?

I will send you a link to your own personal gallery. I usually find for 1-2 hours it’s around 100 photos minimum. I’ll send you a “sneak peek” within a few days of your session, so you have something to share immediately, with the rest of the gallery delivered within 4 weeks.
