It was a fairly chilly, yet bright, Saturday in March when Emiliya and Allen tied the knot . Their wedding took place at Langbank Parish Church, a quiet village on the southern bank of the Clyde, in Scotland. It was that beautiful mix of crisp spring sunshine, bright yellow daffodils, and a photographer busying herself to keep warm. It was the perfect setting for their understated but special day. My main goal as their wedding photographer was to deliver images which captured that vibe of modern nostalgia with a Scottish flourish.
Surrounded by their closest friends and family, Emiliya and Allen exchanged vows in a warm, intimate ceremony. The simplicity of the day emphasised the genuine moments and the people who matter most.
This wedding is a great example of how meaningful small weddings can be. It’s not about grand gestures but about the connection and love between people. Later in the year, Emiliya and Allen hosted a larger celebration in Bulgaria, but for now, they enjoyed every moment of their quiet, beautiful day.

An At Home Wedding Reception in Scotland
After the ceremony, everyone moved to Allen’s parents’ home, adorned with artwork by his talented mum. The relaxed atmosphere added to the day’s appeal. I loved everything about this wedding, there is nothing more unique than having the reception at your childhood home. It reminded me of how weddings used to be – going round to your mums after the ceremony and having a delicious buffet spread. It felt so warm and nostalgic and filled with modern authenticity. As a wedding photographer I felt very appreciative of being invited into this private home and seeing such an intimate setting. It is an honour when people invite you to capture such an important time in their life; more so when you’re allowed this privileged access. Normally at weddings, I usually encounter dogs, but on this occasion the family cats made their appearances, adding a personal touch to the gathering.

Wedding Couple Portraits at Home in Scotland
As a wedding photographer in Scotland, capturing intimate weddings like Emiliya and Allen’s is particularly fulfilling. I had an inkling of what I wanted to create for them from the day. The at-home wedding made me think of more informal candid nostalgic wedding photographs. I wanted to put my own spin on this as I was shooting digital, and wanted to create a modern nostalgia vibe to these wedding photographs in Scotland. This style mixes classic elements with a contemporary edge, focusing on natural light and candid moments that feel both nostalgic and current.
It combines traditional charm with a modern perspective, creating images that are both personal and enduring. These photos not only document the day but also offer lasting memories of the couple’s unique story, mixing relaxed documentary-style shots with gentle, contemporary couple portraits.
