Boclair House in Bearsden, on the outskirts of Glasgow is a wedding venue renowned for its classic art deco inspired interiors. This beautiful Tudor Gothic Mansion is a popular wedding venue for couples who want a venue that delivers effortless style. As a photographer based in East Dunbartonshire, Boclair House is a short distance for me to travel.

Rosie and Anko contacted me shortly before their wedding after the original wedding photographer they had booked could no longer fulfil the role for them. Being a local wedding photographer at Boclair House, meant I was able to help them out on the day.

Laid Back Wedding At Boclair House

Rosie and Anko wanted photography that was laid back and relaxed. This was a day that was about getting married of course, but it was about spending time with their friends and family. So we agreed that the photography should reflect that laidback vibe and have a documentary approach, with a little creativity thrown in.

Ready to Go Wedding Styling

What I love about Boclair House is that it needs no dressing up. If you’re looking for a wedding venue in Glasgow or East Dunbartonshire that offers lots of luxurious style, then this is probably one of the best venues to book. You can dress it up as much or as little as you wish. It’s elegant already, so doesn’t need a lot of work to make it feel any more special.

It is a glamourous and stunning location with a feeling of vintage golden era old money opulence. The mirrored columns in the ballroom can make things interesting from a photography perspective of course – I spend a lot of time channelling my inner vampire! However I also really loved being able to simultaneously see Rosie and Anko and frame them in the centre of the aisle and get their mums’ reactions at the same time.

Beautiful Grounds at Boclair House Wedding Venue

The grounds outside Boclair House are also ideal for a short couple portrait session. It’s also a great setting during winter for sparklers, and creative photos without having to venture far from your guests. The sweeping staircase with the terrace makes a great location for group photos too.

What makes Boclair House special for me is that it offers plenty of opportunities inside and outside. If the weather is inclement, you could always use the interior for dramatic and luxurious photographs.

Ballroom at Boclair House Wedding

The Ballroom at Boclair House has multiple uses for your wedding day. It starts life as an elegant ceremony space before being transformed into a stylish dining room for your guests. At night, it undergoes it’s final transformation into a fabulous dance floor. As an exclusive-use venue, your guests can enjoy a drink in the bar, or out on the terrace.

By the way, here’s a top tip if you book your wedding at Boclair House. It’s worth enquiring with East Dunbartonshire taxi companies for your wedding guests. They are often cheaper than Glasgow taxi firms and don’t always charge a boundary fee for travelling between Glasgow and Bearsden.
