Andrew and Emma fell in love with Enterkine Country House in Ayrshire and booked it for their amazing wedding. They loved the beautiful vaulted ceiling and architecture of the oak-framed glass barn, It offered a beautiful panoramic vista across the Ayrshire hills during the day, while the glass reflected the sparkly twinkly lights in the evening. This was the perfect setting for Enterkine Country House wedding photos.
I met Andrew and Emma in my local cafe in Lenzie, as Andrew’s gran lives in the same village. At the wedding, I chatted to her about life in Lenzie and it transpired she’d been to watch my son’s class at a school performance shortly before the wedding. I always love those wee moments when you realise where your lives and paths have crossed!
Wedding Day Prep Photos at Enterkine Country House
On the morning of their wedding, Emma and Andrew got ready in separate residences within the grounds of Enterkine Country House. Andrew was in the Gateohouse cottage with his groomsmen, while Emma got ready in a hotel room with her bridesmaids. I loved that they booked a professional wedding dresser Don’t Stress The Dress to help out in the morning. Not only did she help Emma get dressed she helped Andrew figure out his plaid for his kilt. She also kept everyone on time, to time, and ensured that there was a beautiful room for those final touches that would look great in the photos. Not a stray shopping bag, clothes hanger, or tit tape in sight! If there were a supplier I’d love to see more of at weddings, it’s a professional dresser. I would definitely recommend hiring Don’t Stress the Dress to help out at Enterkine Country House weddings. She’s the best person to ensure a relaxed start to your day!

Wedding Ceremony Photos at Enterkine House
The ceremony was conducted by Gerrie Douglas Scott, a wonderful humanist who can count me as one of her past couples. I knew exactly what vibe the wedding would have when Emma and Andrew told me they’d booked her. And I knew she would let me take photos in whatever way I needed to!
Gerrie is amazing as a celebrant. She makes the ceremony entirely about the couple – so every ceremony is different and unique. You tell Gerrie your own story, as much or as little as you want to disclose. You can drink from a quaich, have a handfasting, have readings – whatever makes it special to you. She really sets the tone of the day as well – if you want to have a relaxed and laidback wedding, then the tone your celebrant adopts will influence that.
Emma walked down the aisle to ‘Glad You Came’ by the Wanted, while Elvis Presley’s “Can’t Help Falling In Love With You” played while they signed the register.

Colourful Confetti
We headed outside for a shower of confetti. Now, here’s the thing about confetti – dried petals are lovely and very environmentally friendly, but they don’t show up as well as great big brightly coloured biodegradable paper confetti. We were really fortunate with the weather too. Despite being a rather dreich Scottish March day, it remained suitably dry for photographs outside. The bright coloured confetti produced a beautiful wedding photo at Enterkine House Hotel. I loved that wedding guests were able to keep warm inside in the main room as well. Despite the gloomy Scottish grey skies, Andrew and Emma had added lots of flourishes of colour to their wedding, with their flowers and table centrepieces. I loved their rainbow geode cake as well – their pet guineapigs featured on the toppers with a polaroid photo of the couple on the day too. There was a real feel of rainbow to the spirit of the day.

Wedding Photos at Enterkine Country House
Now the one thing about Enterkine Country House is that it’s a brilliant venue for wedding photos. I visited Enterkine Country House a few days prior to scout good wedding photography locations. Enterkine House really did offer an abundance of settings to use creatively for these wedding photographs. Although the weather was cold, we were able to find some fun and interesting spots throughout the venue. The staff gave us plenty of access as well to get the photos we wanted. Despite the grey weather, it was still colourful and bright.
I think this is a venue with lots of incredible options for photographs, both indoors and outside.

Wedding Meal and Reception
Enterkine Country House is able to have a lot in one space. The large oak beamed glass barn is fantastic as it can hold the ceremony, drinks reception, meal and dancing in one space. Your guests don’t have to relocate to another room. It’s lovely and spacious and elegantly decorated. It’s also very comfortable as well, and the wood adds warmth. The white ceilings and natural window light were a huge win for me as well as a wedding photographer at Enterkine Country House.

A Wee Wedding Dram In the Whisky Room
In the evening, Andrew and the groomsmen and other male relatives retired to the Glenfiddich Whisky room for a dram of whisky and a chat. Then it was time for dancing! Emma and Andrew surprised their guests with a choreographed dance to ‘A Single Kiss’ by Michael Callaghan. The sparkly lights really added to the atmosphere of the evening.

Wedding Ceilidh at Enterkine Country House
Then it was time for a good old-fashioned Scottish ceilidh afterwards ensured an absolutely heaving dancefloor! I love photographing ceilidhs as they ensure a packed dance floor. It’s a little-known fact that in Scotland, children learn a lot of these dances from their first year of school. The joy is that even if you aren’t familiar with the steps, the band will always talk you through the steps with a practice run. I’ve seen people from all over the world step up and have a go at ceilidh and thoroughly enjoy the experience.
