Ayrshire in South West Scotland is a popular destination for couples looking to plan a wedding and has lots of amazing venues. It’s a fantastic part of the country if you’re looking for a location that’s easy to reach but set in the countryside. Accessible via train, motorways, and the local Prestwick Airport, with beautiful views across the sea. It’s easy to understand why couples choose Ayrshire wedding venues. Ayrshire is a beautiful part of the country and ideal if you have guests coming from near and far for your celebrations. I’ve been fortunate enough to photograph weddings at several Ayrshire wedding venues over the years so thought I’d share some of my favourite venues.
Rowallan Castle
Rowallan Castle is a luxury Ayrshire wedding venue. The castle can host up to 100 guests at your wedding, with accommodation for 21 of your wedding party at the hotel. Alternatively, you can opt for 300 guests in a marquee. The bridal suite is fabulous and offers a great space for getting ready before your I do’s. There’s ample parking for guests and a renowned golf course for anyone keen to hit a few holes.
The team at Rowallan Castle are very hospitable and accommodating, so you and your wedding guests will be well taken care of.
Rowallan Castle has plenty of photo opportunities as well – including the old castle, as well as outside with views of Arran and Aisla Craig. Click here to see a blog post of Rowallan Castle Wedding photos.

Portencross Castle
Portencross Castle is located near West Kilbride. It’s an ancient monument dating from 1360. In 2010, it underwent careful restoration work funded by the local community. The Castle has links to Kings Robert I and Robert II. I photographed a wedding ceremony at Portencross Castle, with the reception taking place at local hotel Seamill House Hotel.
