I absolutely love couple photoshoots in Glasgow, it’s a great opportunity to get really creative. Mhairi and Paul had booked me as their wedding photographer and opted to include this engagement session as part of their package.
We met up in the West End of Glasgow, and mooched around the Botanics before heading along Byres Road and onto Ashton Lane. Now I have to confess, I was a bit nervous how it would turn out as it was pretty rainy when we met up! However there’s a great Norwegian saying, there’s no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothes. Mhairi and Paul dressed warmly for the occasion.
And what happened? Inevitably the sun came out! Then it rained again.
To be honest, Scottish weather has the attention span of a squirrel. It’s so changeable that when the weather sticks to one thing consistently, throughout the day, it makes the news.
Couple photoshoots like this can be a lot of fun. I think the main key to them is just to relax in the moment. And that goes for me too. Turning up with no expectations, no plans, no checklist. My only goal was to be creative.
The thing I love about engagement sessions and photoshoots in Glasgow, particularly around the West End, is that you don’t actually have to go far to get a totally different scene. A little bit of exploring across a small space really offers a lot of different opportunities for photos in Glasgow. There’s so much vibrancy that you can tie into the photos. I really love the photo of Mhairi and Paul in the rain under their brolly. The sun was out behind them, and reflecting off a window which gave this wonderful extra light effect. I also really loved using the architecture and design of the Grosvenor Cinema in Ashton Lane to frame them.

Mhairi and Paul booked their Glasgow engagement session as part of my Svalbard Wedding photography package. This is a brilliant add on especially if you’re naturally camera shy, as it gives you a chance to get comfortable in front of the camera before your wedding.
